Dietary & Nutrition Care
Good nutrition and attractive meals are an essential part of our service.
Nutritional goals are achieved through our Dietary Department. Three meals a day plus nutritious snack are provided for residents in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations. Alternate selections to the main entrée are always available and residents are provided choices at each meal.
Everyone is unique and so are their dietary needs.
Special and therapeutic diets are prepared according to the needs of the resident.
Nutritional supplements and feeding aides are provided if determined appropriate by professional assessment completed in the home.
Meal service is offered in the dining rooms, although for residents who may be acutely ill, meals will be provided in their room on a short term basis.
The Nutrition Manager is responsible for supervising the team of Dietary Staff. Menus are assessed by our Registered Dietician and are approved by the Residents’ Council.

Menus are based on a three-week rotation and change twice annually in the spring and fall and allow the Dietician to incorporate seasonal items. The menu offers resident meal choices, conforms to Canada's Food Guide and is checked by a registered Dietitian. Please note menu is subject to substitution due to availability.
Wholesome nutritious meals are provided to residents, staff and volunteers.
Dietitian and Food Service Managers coordinate and supervise all meal preparation.
Three well-balanced meals are served daily to each resident and three nutritious snacks are offered between meals.
All residents admitted to Watford Quality Care Centre are assessed at the time of admission and regularly thereafter, for their nutritional needs by the Dietician and Director of Dietary Services

Meal Service for Visitors
Meal service for visitors is available by purchasing a meal from the charge nurse or the office staff.
We encourage families or friends to share meals with our residents for a minimal charge. 24 hour-notice is required. Families who wish to share a meal with their loved ones will be seated in the Activity Room as space is limited in the residents dining area. Tickets can be purchased in advanced, please contact us for more information.
