What is Life Enrichment?

The Life Enrichment Program at Watford Quality Care Centre focuses on improving and maintaining the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy as well as meaningful and purposeful activities that are individualized to the person. Activities are person-centered and focus on the interests, hobbies and past careers of the individual while also addressing their physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual needs. Our goal is to keep our residents engaged and active and to add meaning and purpose to their life.

Some of the programs we implement are:

  • Pet Therapy

  • Music Therapy

  • Aromatherapy

  • Horticultural therapy

  • Art Therapy

  • Culinary Therapy

  • Doll Therapy

The St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program reaches out to Watford Quality Care on a weekly basis bringing comfort, joy and companionship to residents and staff of our home. Everyone benefits from the unconditional companionship of a four-legged friend. Interacting with a dog can improve mood, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and decrease feelings of loneliness.
